Employment with Aquatics at the WRC
We are always looking for attentive and motivated students to join our aquatics team. We hire in the following positions
Lifeguard - This individual is responsible for the safety and well-being of patrons recreating in the aquatic facility and for providing positive customer service. Additional responsibilities include enforcement of pool rules and regulations, reporting of all infractions and accidents in pool areas, record keeping, assisting in setting up of facilities and equipment, general maintenance and clean up, surveillance at in-service training sessions. Lifeguards must have current certification in Lifeguard Training and CPR/AED and First-Aid for the Professional Rescuer.

Aquatics Instructors will be responsible for providing positive customer service to patrons seeking informational courses. Aquatics Instructors are responsible for coordinating, preparing, set up, break down, and conducting their assigned aquatics group fitness or swim lesson courses. It is the responsibility of the Aquatics instructors to contact the Aquatics Manager and participants of their course if it is canceled or needs to be rescheduled.
Head Lifeguard -?All of the duties and requirements for a lifeguard must be met. Head Lifeguards will be responsible for providing positive customer service and dealing with customers in a positive manner including conflict resolution. The head lifeguard is responsible for the aquatic facility in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor. Responsible for leadership in assigning lifeguard duties, aiding in the instruction and training of lifeguards during in-service training sessions, evaluating CPR/AED, First-Aid, and Lifeguarding skills on a monthly basis and security of the aquatic facility. This individual must be the most exemplary of all guards, responsible for the enforcement of all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

We use a 3 step selection process when hiring new guards. The selection process is competitive, so applicants are encouraged to do their best for each step. The following information describes
- Timed 500 - After submitting an application you will need to swim 500 yards continuously in 12 minutes or less. Because the WRC pool is a 20 yard pool, you will need to swim 13 laps. You must have a current WRC lifeguard time you. Once you have completed the swim in 12 minutes or less, you will be scheduled for an interview
- Interview – This is a typical step in any application process. This gives you the opportunity to share your past experience with us while we get to know you better.?
- Skills Scenario – After a successful interview, you will be scheduled for a skills scenario. This skills scenario will give you the opportunity to show off your abilities and knowledge as a professional rescuer. You should be prepared to respond to sudden illness on land and in the water, as well as drowning, and cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
